DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Burleigh Grimes, Ed Stevens, and Ferrell Anderson. All three wear Toronto Maple Leafs uniforms. Grimes, left, sitting on a bench, faces the camera. With his right hand on his right knee, Grimes rests his left hand in his lap. He holds a pair of glasses and a piece of paper in his left hand. Grimes looks to his left and down at Anderson. Stevens, center, facing the camera, sits on the same bench as Grimes. He rests both his hands in his lap while turning his head to his right, directing his gaze to a point to the left of the camera. Anderson, right, squatting down, is shown in profile. Resting his left elbow on his left knee, and his right hand on Stevens' left knee, Anderson looks up to Grimes. Each of the caps have been outlined to appear more legible. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a published newspaper clipping of this image with a caption, typed in black ink, reads, "THE LOWDOWN-Burleigh Grimes, left, new manager of Toronto Maple Leafs, talks with slugging first baseman, Ed Stevens, center, and catcher Andy Anderson. Grimes, who piloted Red Wings six years ago, replaced Joe Becker as Maple Leaf pilot. It was Grimes first visit here since 1946 campaign." Stamped on this clipping on the reverse (not shown), in red ink, is the date, "AUG 20 1957." Grimes managed Toronto from 1942 to 1945, 1952 and 1953.
