DescriptionA black-and-white full-length posed photograph of Jimmie Foxx fielding. Foxx, shown in profile, wears a Philadelphia Athletics road uniform. Depicted in a lunge, Foxx supports his weight between his front, bent left leg and back, straight right leg. With his right hand resting on his left knee, Foxx leans forward, extending his left arm down to the ground. A baseball is visible in the glove worn by Foxx on his left hand. Foxx turns his head to his right, establishing eye contact with the camera. An occupied stadium can be seen in the background of the photograph. Based on the design of the uniform worn by Foxx, this image was captured during the 1928 season, the sole year Philadelphia wore road socks with only two stripes. Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in purple ink, is the date, "JUL 11 1932," a probable publication date of this image.
