Tris Speaker Batting photograph

Date1924 or 1925
DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Tris Speaker batting. Speaker, shown in profile, wears a Cleveland Indians road uniform. Captured in his follow-through position, Speaker looks upwards, following the ball. Supporting the majority of his weight on his bent, front left leg, Speaker rests only the toe of his left cleat on the ground. Rotating his upper body to his right, Speaker holds his bat hip height, on his right side. In gripping the bat, Speaker places his left hand over his right, angling the bat backwards. An occupied stadium is visible in the background of the image. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Speaker, this image was captured during the 1924 or 1925 season, the two years during which Speaker played that Cleveland wore solid colored road uniforms with piping along the entire length of the jersey.
