Nellie Fox and Fritz Brickell photograph

Dateprobably 1959
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Nellie Fox sliding into second base as an unidentified umpire is calling him out and Fritz Brickell is jumping up. Fox is dressed in a Chicago White Sox home uniform whereas Brickell is dressed in a New York Yankees road uniform. The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Nelson Fox, of the Chicago White Sox, slides into second too late as Yankee shortstop Fritz Brickell takes throw from second baseman Bobby Richardson on a ground ball by Al Smith in second inning yesterday." Based on Fox and Brickell's uniforms, a date stamp on the reverse (also not shown), and their time with their respective teams, this photograph was probably taken in 1959.
