DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of the exterior of Hubert's Museum, located at Times Square. Several men look at the advertisements; one features a performance by Grover Cleveland Alexander. A caption pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in black ink, reads, "ALEXANDER'S NEW PITCHING BOX IT WAS TO THIS FLEA CIRCUS ON NEW YORK'S BROADWAY, THAT GROVER CLEVELAND ALEXANDER, ONCE KNOWN AS THE GREATEST PITCHER OF HIS DAY, ATTEMPTED TO STAGE A COMEBACK JAN. 19 - WHERE, INSTEAD OF BURNING SPEEDBALLS DOWN THE GROOVE, HE WILL TALK OF HIS FORMER BASE-BALL DAYS IN A 12-TIME-A-DAY MONOLOGUE TO THE IDLERS AND DOWN-AT-THE-HEEL CLIENTS. ALSO ON THE PROGRAM IS A SWORD SWALLOWER, A LEVITA-TION PERFORMANCE, AND SOME DANCING GIRLS. IT'S ALEXANDER'S FIRST RETURN TO BROADWAY SINCE THE PHILLIES LET HIM GO IN 1930. 1/19/39."
