Grover Cleveland Alexander Portrait photograph

Dateprobably 1938
DescriptionA black-and-white half-length portrait photograph of Grover Cleveland Alexander. Shown from the waist up, Alexander wears a suit, tie, and fedora. Depicted in profile, Alexander leans on a counter with his left arm while resting his right hand on his hip. He looks forward to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. A caption pasted on the reverse (not shown) reads, "'OLD PETE"' RATES THE HALL OF FAME Grover Cleveland Alexander (above), one of the great right-handed pitchers in the annals of baseball, who qualified for sports immortality in the third annual vote by members of the baseball writers association. After nearly 20 years in the National League, Alexander, who is 51, re-tired from the game in 1930. 1/13/38."
