DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Bob Feller wearing a suit and seated with his arms resting on a desk. He is watching as a second man in a suit fills out a form using a dip pen. Based on the caption on the back of photo the setting is most likely a recruitment office in Cleveland. The typed caption on the back of the photo (not shown) reads "BOB FELLER REGISTERS CLEVELAND - Robert "Bob" Feller, fireball pitcher for the Cleveland Indians, (right) registering with Merill B. Wittman* in Cleveland on Oct. 16th in accordance with the selective service act. Feller, here for a hunting trip, remarked that he is even more skillful with a gun than a baseball. 10-17-40." There is a number handwritten in ink on the right-hand border of the photo (not shown) that reads: "CL578291."
