DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott captured jumping in the air to catch a baseball. Ott has his legs wide apart and his left arm extended out and upwards. The baseball is in Ott's baseball glove. His right hand is flicked down and Ott is looking up towards his baseball glove with a look of concentration. An unidentified played is standing on the pitcher's mound in the background. The Polo Grounds is in the background. Ott is dressed in a New York Giants home uniform. Based on Ott's uniform and his time with the Giants, this photograph was taken between 1933 and 1937. A newspaper clipping affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, ."..ranked one of the game's greatest outfielders."
