DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Tris Speaker batting. Shown in 3/4 profile, Speaker wears a Cleveland Indians Spring training uniform. Depicted in his follow through position, Speaker supports his weight between his straight, front right leg, and his bent, back left leg. Carrying the momentum from his swing, Speaker rotates his upper body to his right, holding the bat shoulder height, angled backwards. Speaker looks forward, to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. The markings visible on the surface of the photograph, those that resemble the letter "K," are not original to the photograph and indicate where it is to be cropped upon publication. The small scale of the bleachers in the background and the specific design of the uniform worn by Speaker both indicate that this image was captured during Spring training. Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in purple ink, is the the date, "AUG 1925."
