Walter Johnson glove

DescriptionBrown leather left-handed fielder's glove with four finger stalls and a thumb stall. The thumb stall and the forefinger stall are connected by two thin pieces of leather as webbing. Leather laces and metal grommets line the palm side bottom heel edge of the glove. Back side of the glove has an opening at the base of the finger stalls. Wrist strap has two buttonholes and fastens with a metal button. There is a red manufacturer logo engraved on the metal button. There is a black and gold manufacturer label on the wrist strap. There is a very faint imprinted manufacturer marking on the palm side heel area, "WA... / G56(8)." The model number is illegible.

Bio/Historical NoteWalter Johnson wore this glove at the end of a 21-year big league career in which the flame-throwing right-hander posted 417 wins, 3,509 strikeouts, and a record 110 shutouts, all with the Washington Senators.
