Cool Papa Bell glove

DescriptionDark brown leather right-handed fielder's glove with four finger stalls and one thumb stall. Finger stalls are connected at the top by a leather lace. One leather piece between the thumb and forefinger stalls acts as webbing. Laces and grommets line the palm side of the wrist area. Back side has a wrist strap with two buttonholes and a metal button. Left side of the wrist strap has a rectangular back and red manufacturer label, "Rawlings." Thumb stall side has some stamps, including patent information.

Bio/Historical NoteJames "Cool Papa" Bell used this glove late in his career. The speedy center fielder played for the St. Louis Stars, Pittsburgh Crawfords and Homestead Grays, contributing to nine Negro National League pennants.
