DescriptionA black-and-white portrait photograph of Burleigh Grimes. Grimes, shown from the neck up, wears a Brooklyn Robins jersey and baseball cap. Looking forward, Grimes establishes eye contact with the camera. The close cropping of this portrait indicates that it was extracted from a larger, more complete photograph. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Grimes, this image was captured between 1918, his first year with the team, and 1924, the final year Brooklyn wore jerseys without piping around the collar. Several pinstripes on the uniform have been enhanced to appear more legible.
