DescriptionA black-and-white half-length portrait photograph of Burleigh Grimes. Grimes, shown from the waist up, depicted in 3/4 profile, wears a Brooklyn Dodgers road jersey and baseball cap. Grimes looks forward, directing his gaze to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. A brick wall is visible behind Grimes. His signature, on the surface of the photograph, can be seen on his jersey above the team name. Based on the specific design of the jersey worn by Grimes, this image was captured during the 1938 season, the sole year the team wore a World's Fair patch. This patch, visible on the left sleeve of his jersey, comprised of a triangle and circle sitting on a base, was worn through the 1938 season in promotion of next year's World Fair.
