DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Burleigh Grimes and Rochester Red Wings business manager Guy F. Airey. Grimes, right, facing the camera, wears a Rochester Red Wings uniform. Grimes stands with his left foot on the field and his right on the base of the fence that divides the field and grandstand. Standing with his left hand on his hip, Grimes rests his right elbow on the top of the fence. Grimes looks to his right, establishing eye contact with Airey. Airey, left, shown in profile, wears a pinstripe suit, tie, and fedora. Sitting, he rests his right hand in his lap and his left over the fence. He looks up to Grimes. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a published newspaper clipping of this cropped image with a caption, typed in black ink, reads, "Burleigh Grimes, right, shown with Business Manager Guy F. Airey at practice in Stadium yesterday, makes his debut before hometown fans today as pilot of 1945 Rochester club." Grimes managed Rochester for the 1945 and 1946 seasons. The photograph was taken in 1945.
