DescriptionA black-and-white 3/4 length photograph of Burleigh Grimes and an unidentified Toronto Maple Leafs player. Sitting on a bench, shown from the knees up, both Grimes and this player wear Toronto uniforms. Grimes, right, sits with his left hand on his left knee while placing his right arm around the player's shoulders. Grimes turns his head to his right, looking down to the ball held by the player. The Toronto player, left, rests his left hand in his lap while gripping a baseball with his right hand. He also looks forward and down to the ball that he holds chest height. Pasted on the reverse (not shown) is a published newspaper clipping of this image. Stamped on the reverse (not shown), on this clipping, in purple ink, is the date, "MAY 16 1942." Grimes managed the Maple Leafs from 1942 to 1945 and 1952, 1953.
