Bob Feller Pitching photograph

Datebetween 1945 April-August 21
DescriptionA black-and-white full-length photograph of Bob Feller, wearing a Great Lakes Naval Training Station uniform, pitching. As indicated by the Great Lakes uniform worn by Feller this image was taken between April, the time of his arrival on base, and August 21, 1945, the date of his honorable discharge. Feller stands on his left leg, his right is extended slightly behind his body with his right foot off the ground. Feller wears a baseball glove on his left hand that is extended back behind his body. Feller's right arm is extended across the center of his body and his torso is turned slightly to the left. Feller squints looking in the distance. The facial expression as well as the body posture indicate that Feller has just pitched and is now watching the ball in the distance. Based on the included background and the presence of shadows on the face of Feller as well as his own shadow seen on the ground behind indicate that this photo was taken outdoors on a baseball field. The barracks visible in the background indicate that this photo was taken on base.
