Bob Feller with Teammates in Dugout photograph

Date1940 June 30
DescriptionA black-and-white 3/4 photograph of Bob Feller standing in the dugout with his teammates. Feller, wearing a Cleveland Indians road uniform and a baseball glove on his left hand, leans with his left hand against a bat in the dugout. Feller, along with the majority of his teammates, direct their gaze to a point on the field to their left. The location of the players in the dugout in conjunction with the spectators in the background indicate that this photo was captured during a game, rather than at practice. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in black ink, is a clipping of the original newspaper caption that reads, "Six Players of League-Leading Indians Selected for A.L. All-Stars Lined up in front of the Cleveland team's dugout in Comiskey Park, Chicago, are, left to right, Rollie Hemsley, catcher; Al Milnar, pitcher; Ken Keltner, third baseman; Lou Boudreau, shortshop; Roy Mack, second baseman, and Bob Feller, pitcher, who will oppose the National League All-Stars at St. Louis on July 9." Stamped on the reverse in black ink is the date "JUN 30 1940." In addition, stamped on the reverse in purple ink is the date "JUL 1 1940," the probable publication date of this image.
