DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Jimmie Fox running to home plate. Foxx, wearing a Philadelphia Athletics road uniform, facing the camera, is shown from a birds-eye view. Foxx, far right, captured mid-step, supports his weight on his front left leg, while is right leg, that is bent at the knee, extends backwards. While running, holding both arms waist height, bent at the elbow, Foxx looks forward and down, at the approaching home plate. Standing behind home plate, to the left of Speaker, is Philadelphia player Bing Miller, holding two bats, the Philadelphia catcher Zack Taylor, the umpire Bill Klem, as well as the bat boy. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in black ink, is a caption that reads, "C-7479--PHILADELPHIA "ATHLETICS" DEFEAT CHICAGO "CUBS," 3-1 IN FIRST GAME OF WORLD SERIES BEFORE 51,000 AT WRIGLEY (...) CHICAGO. (...)HOTO SHOWS JIMMY FOXX SCORING THE FIRST (...)UN OF THE GAME IN THE SEVENTH INNING (...) HITTING A HOME-RUN. (...)." Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in red ink, is the date, "OCT 15 1929."
