DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Sandy Koufax captured with a small smile after accomplishing his 25th win of the 1966 season on September 20 when the Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-1. Koufax has a towel around his neck and is dressed in Los Angeles Dodgers home uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Sandy Koufax had good reason to smile last night. He helped keep the Dodgers 1 1/2 games in front of Pirates and posted his 25th victory of the season." A newspaper clipping is affixed to the front of the photograph and states, "Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax gives his usual shy smile after winning his 25th game of the season, making him the first National League pitcher to win 25 games in two consecutive seasons since Dizzy Dean in 1935. Koufax pitched the Dodgers to an 11-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium 9/20." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on September 20, 1966.
