DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Sandy Koufax captured as he winds up to release his pitch in a game against the Houston Astros on June 14, 1966 where the Dodgers lost to the Astros 0-3. Koufax has a strained expression on his face as he brings the baseball up in his left hand. He is dressed in the Los Angeles Dodgers home uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the front of the photograph on the side and states, "Sandy Koufax, the Dodgers' star, who swept practically every award baseball offered in 1965 when he won 26 regular season games and two more in the World Series, puts his 8-game winning streak on the line as as he pitches to the Astros. Koufax with 11 wins and one loss going into tonight's game, is baseball's best candidate to win 30-games this season. Last 30-game winner was Dizzy Dean in 1934." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on June 14, 1966.
