DescriptionA black-and-white half-length photograph of Paul Kerr accepting a Frank Chance portrait from Donald Norton. Kerr, left, facing the camera, shown from the waist up, wears a suit and tie. Turning his head to his right, Kerr directs his gaze to a point to the left of the camera. With his right hand, Kerr holds onto the framed drawing of Chance. Norton, right, shown in profile, wears a suit, tie, and pocket square. He extends his left hand in front of his body, waist height, to hold the frame. He looks forward to a point in the distance and to the left of the camera. The line drawing depicts Chance wearing a 1910 Chicago Cubs home uniform, throwing the ball. A drawing of the exterior of the Hall of Fame is visible behind Kerr. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a caption, typed in black ink, reads, "FRAMED PORTRAIT of baseball great Frank Chance is shown being presented to National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum on August 20th by Donald Norton (right) on behalf of artwork's donor, J.P. Stevens & Co., Inc., textile firm. Norton is a Stevens merchandising ex-ecutive. Accepting the Chance study is Paul S. Kerr, Hall of Fame president." Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in black ink, is the photographer's information. An image of the artwork itself is also part of the Museum's collection, B-1694-63.
