Pittsburgh Pirates Business Men's League trophy

DescriptionSterling silver vase-style trophy with two handles featuring engraved lettering on the front reading "Pittsburgh Baseball Team / 1909 / World's Champion / From / The Business Men's League / Hot Springs Ark." Trophy has an opening at the top with a decorative edge featuring grapes and leaves and this portion lifts out of the lower main trophy. Main trophy body has leaf and vine decorations around the perimeter of the body in line with the handles and below the engraved lettering before tapering down to a smaller base with the same raised decoration.
Bio/Historical NoteThe Pittsburgh Pirates, who held their Spring Training in Hot Springs, Arkansas from 1901 through 1916, received this sterling silver trophy from that city's Business Men's League following their 1909 World Championship.
