DescriptionA half-length black-and-white photograph of Tris Speaker standing, wearing a Boston Red Sox uniform. Shown from the waist up, Speaker looks forward, establishing eye contact with the camera. Based on the shadows present on the face of the subject, this image was most likely captured out of doors. The background of the photograph is not original and an outline, hand-drawn in pencil, can be seen surrounding the form of Speaker. Visible in the upper right of the image, handwritten on the surface, in blue, is, "OSO/X." Based on the specific design of the jersey worn by Speaker, this image was captured in 1907, Speaker's first year with Boston, or 1909, the final year Boston wore home jerseys with laces. During the 1908 season Boston wore jerseys that featured their stocking logo, rather than team name. In the other copy of this photograph Speaker is shown from the chest up.
