The caption on the bottom of the photograph reads, "Los Angeles, July 18 - Doctor examines Koufax - Dr. Robert Wood examines the hand of Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher Sandy Koufax at Los Angeles today after Koufax was flown home from Cincinnati for treatment of a numb index finger on his pitching hand and a shoulder muscle injury. Koufax leads the National League in strikeouts." According to the caption, this photograph was taken on July 18, 1962.
